【摘要】:ThissectionofIEC695-6describestheapparatus,calibrationproceduresandbasicexperimentalproceduresforthedeterminationofthespecificopticaldensityofsmokeproducedbymaterialsexposedverticallytoaradiantheatsourcewithorwithouttheapplicationofapilotflame.Thetestspecimensareofadefinedsize.Thedeterminationoftheopticaldensityiscarriedoutinapressurecontrolledchamberpreviouslycalibratedwithreferencematerials.Thismethodisapplicabletosolid,non-metallicflattestspecimensonly.Itisnotsuitableforusewithnon-planarspecimens,e.g.insulatedwireandcable,becauseitisnotpossibletoobtainahomogeneousdistributionofheatfluxwithsuchproducts.Thisstandarddoesnotprovideaclassificationsystemforthebehaviourofmaterials.Materialswhichmeltandflowawayfromthedirectimpingmentofheatfluxmaynotprovidereproducibleresultsandthismethodisnotapplicable.Virtuallyallnon-metallicmaterials,includingthoseusedinelectrotechnicalproducts,emitsmokewhenexposedtoheat.Amongthehazardsassociatedwithfire,smokecauseshumanandmaterialdamageandimpairsfirefighting.Consequently,areductionintherateofgenerationofopaquesmokeproducedbymaterials/productsduringafirereducesdamagetoequipment,facilitatesevacuationofpeopleandemergencyservicesinter-vention.WARNING:Appropriatesafetymeasuresaretobetakenastoxicandharmfuleffluentsmaybeproducedbypyrolysisorcombustionoftestspecimens.
