MIL-STD-438E, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE DESIGN CRITERIA STANDARD: SCHEDULE OF PIPING, VALVES, FITTINGS, AND ASSOCIATED PIPING COMPONENTS FOR SUBMARINES SERVICE (15 MAY 1973)., This military standard is approved for use by all activities under the cognizance of the Naval Ship Systems Command and is published to establish the requirements for submarine piping system components, in order to preclude the necessity for including a piping schedule in each ship specification. This standard represents and includes the latest material requirements previously covered in the ship specifications. It is the intent to refer to this standard, in Section 9480-0 in the ship specifications for all new submarines.
